The Polar Express

We went up north this weekend with some family and took the kids on The Polar Express. We left early and spent the day in Flagstaff. We drove up to Snow Bowl to play in the little snow that was still left from the storm a few days ago. They lasted probably a half hour before they were freezing and wanted to be warm again (it probably didn't help that their forgetful mother somehow forgot to pack their gloves-luckily another prepared mom packed extras). After snow we drove into Williams and changed into our PJs to get ready for the train ride. The ride to the 'North Pole' was fun and has made a 'believer' out of Shelby. With all the hot chocolate, cookies, lights, a story, an elf, visits from Santa, a special gift, and Christmas songs who wouldn't be a believer? For anyone with small children I would highly recommend doing this with them at least once. I would also suggest going on the 6 o'clock train rather than the 8 o'clock. Oh and if you have a tired, crabby husband and an energetic 2 year-old that refuses to sit still for 2 seconds...leave them at home. It takes away from the spirit of the whole thing. Only kidding--sort of.;)

Our little snow bunnies.

A last attempt to keep him still for a minute.

The bell that made Shelby a believer. If you haven't seen the movie go rent it and watch it. It'll explain the bell.

My three bright stars at 9 o'clock last night!

Hi Shipe family! It is Jenni Roseland - Chad's wife! Can't believe how big your kiddos are getting! We haven't seen you forever so it figures that is why they look so big! If you don't mind I would like to add your page to mine so that I can keep updated on your family!

I read about the Polar Express last year but thought Samuel was too young. What age do you think is the best? I also heard that you have to buy tickets months in advance- is that true? Shelby looks beautiful and timeless in that picture where she is holding the bell.
