Sea World

I'm finally blogging about our wonderful trip to California! It has been awhile since we have actually had a family vacation and it was so nice to have a few days to spend with one another. We stayed in the La Jolla Village area right across from the beach. It is so beautiful there! My parents came along and we all stayed in their time share. This was our family vacation growing up (we've been going since I was 1) and it was nice to do the same with my kids. We had fun enjoying the weather, beach, walking, shopping, eating, going to an awesome Farmer's Market, and Sea World!! There was a lot to cram into only 3 1/2 days but it was worth it. The kids were so exhausted they came home and crashed every night. This was good because the grumpy old guy downstairs wasn't a good combo with my two active toddlers running everywhere upstairs... not to mention there is only supposed to be 4 to a unit and we had 6.
This is where we stayed. It is a small, older complex but absolutely beautiful! All the units are time shares that owner's use by the week.

Walking to an area with more sand.

The attempted "feet in the sand" shot.

The kids playing in the sand after a wave took them and my mom out and literally soaked them. The tide was still really high....Blaine didn't like the water too much after that.

The kids fed their dad during his nap!

This picture cracks me up. We were walking to town to get some lunch and I tried to snap a picture of Blaine walking up the hill because it was cracking me up. Well the minute I pulled the camera out he turned around and started walking backwards up the hill. It was too funny!

We ate these delicious cookies after lunch in the park. There is a deli in town and they have always had these yummy sugar cookies with a lemon glazed frosting. Mmmmm...they always look pretty too!

Watching the kids follow the birds was hilarious.

More bird following.

An attempted family shot. The kids can't figure out how to look at the camera.:)

Seal watching. My parents said when we were little we used to play at this beach and then the seals just kind of took over one day. I know awhile ago there was some controversy as to whether or not the city was going to let them stay there or move them out. I like them there...they're fun to go and watch for a minute!

Walking the coast. The kids loved riding on Blaine's shoulders this trip.

The beautiful La Jolla coastline.

Yeah!! Sea World!

My mom and I were the ones to brave the tea cups with the kids at Elmo's Bay of Play.

This was just a pet show with dogs and cats. It was really cute and the kids loved it.

The penguins. So cute! We saw two of them that were standing with their bellies touching for the longest time. It was like they were cuddling. I love penguins and I also love that you can see my flash through the glass.

He was really in awe of the sharks.

This was before the dolphin show. My camera died so there are no pictures of the show.:(

Blaine and I on the Skyride. It was nice having Grandma and Grandpa there because we got to go off together and do things that the kids wouldn't enjoy so much...and we even got a date night.:)

The Shamu Show.

This was the best and by far the kid's favorite! I think it is amazing how these animals are trained.

We took the kids on another ride at the Bay of Play. It was fun to go on the little kid rides and the kids loved them!

My parents with the kids(and some other random child) on a train ride at an outdoor mall in La Jolla near the temple. I love all the shopping there because it is mostly all outdoors and the weather is always so nice!

He slept most of the way home. It was an exhausting trip but they didn't want to come home. Who could blame them?

Shelby with her sunburn and her souvenir Barbie from Sea World!

How fun!! What an amazing view of the beach, and how fun to be so close to it! Isn't it nice to just get away from everyday life for a little while? It looks like the kids had a blast. I love little Blaine's sweet little facial expression while watching the sharks. Kids are so much fun! (Please remind me of that next time I complain about my kids..cause it's easy to forget!)

I didnt realize that you actually stayed in La Jolla. Well, talk about the life! You kids are so cute and funny. Amazing how that much personality can be in such a small little person. Oh, and I still LOVE your haircut.
