Dinner and FHE

Blaine and I tried to do a short lesson with the kids last night about how we can show love for one another. Shelby was having a rough night so I started off by asking her a couple of questions. The conversation went like this....

Me: Shelby, does Jesus want us to be happy or sad?

Shelby: Sad.

Me: No, Jesus wants us to be happy. He doesn't like to see us sad. Do you think Jesus wants us to do good things or bad things?

Shelby: Bad things.

Me: No, Jesus wants us to do good things. He wants us to choose the right.

After this conversation Blaine started asking Shelby how she could show love for her brother. She couldn't think of anything so we gave her some suggestions. Then we asked how she could show love for Mommy and she couldn't think of anything again so we gave her more suggestions. When we asked her how to show love for her daddy she put her finger up by her mouth like she was thinking really hard and replied, "Do homework". We couldn't help but laugh. Great idea Shelby!

Shelby also had a hard time finishing her dinner tonight. We told her that if she ate three more bites of her food she could have a piece of chocolate that Blaine brought home. She didn't like the idea of eating more dinner but liked the idea of dessert. So she looked at her food in disgust and then dreadfully said, "Ohhhh....here it goes", and began eating her food. It was hilarious. Below is a picture of her face when I told her to eat her dinner and then a picture of her when I told her she could have her piece of chocolate.
