I felt like I had two little munchkins ganging up on me. They were faster than me and probably smarter than me today. I just could not seem to get things under control and no discipline seemed to be working. The afternoons are the worst because I'm trying to pick up the house and cook dinner before Blaine gets home while trying to entertain 2 very active children. Anyway in an attempt to keep my sanity I put the baby in his crib and tried to "teach" Shelby a lesson on what it means to be responsible and have responsibilites. I mean she already uses this word on a regular basis...shouldn't she know what it means? I tried explaining to her that one of her responsibilities is to begin cleaning up her own messes. We started with cleaning up her room. This task took awhile...maybe about 30-45 minutes. The whole time I hear her saying in a whining voice, "Boring, boring, boring.....". If this is the type of attitude we have to look forward to when she's a teenager we're going to have a BLAST! That girl is such a firecracker sometimes that I have to laugh silently to myself. Well she finally finished her room and I told her if I saw her cleaning up her messes this week without any whines I would give her a quarter for each time I saw her picking up. Then at the end of the week she could pay her tithing(that was a whole other lesson in itself) and then go pick something out at the dollar store for her obeying mom and dad and taking "responsibility" for the messes she made. Responsibility for a 3 year old is really tough...she asked for it though by talking about all the 'sponsibilities' around here. It was just one of those discouraging 'I'm lacking in the mom department' days. I can't wait to watch more Super Nanny this season and learn some of her great discipline tactics! So what did I do after I put the kids to bed you might ask??? I sat myself on the couch, watched "The Office", and ate one of these(thanks to Renae's post for giving me the idea)...
On a sillier note...tonight at dinner Blaine asked if he could have some more 'emonade' and when his dad said, "Not until you eat some of your dinner"...he said clear as day for the very first time, "AWW Man!!!" We couldn't help but laugh. That's pretty funny coming out of a not even 2 year old's mouth. P.S. If you have any discipline/mom tips that seem to work for you feel free to share.:)

Haha, poor you. Today probably wasn't much easier either. I love Super nanny. I do her methods of disciplining, and they work great! That is so funny about Blaine saying aww man! Kids are so funny.
Sounds like you dont need any advice! I like how you ended the day though- that is EXACTLY what I do. Nothing better than ice cream and The Office to make everything better.
