Baby Blackmail

I'm kind of, sort of in the process of potty training Blaine right now. This meaning that he is partially ready and it is on the back of my mind but I am not ready to actually do it. I guess my laziness is kicking in. He has a habit of telling me he is pooping so I run him to the toilet but he doesn't do anything. Well I've recently discovered that when he tells me this he is actually peeing. So today I decided to try him in underwear and this is what I found...I was laughing SO hard. He was stomping on the potty with his sister's boots on screaming, "Steppin' potty, steppin' potty!" This is definitely blackmail for him when he gets older;)

So I'm looking for advice from anyone who has potty trained boys before...what works with them? He'll pee on the potty when HE wants to so he definitely knows what to do. Sometimes I'll find him sitting on the potty with his diaper off but this is always before his bath. He won't go on there any other time.

You know more than I do! Samuel wont sit on the potty because it is cold... but good luck and I will be the one asking YOU for advice pretty soon!

Time, boys are tough. Someone told me that the light bulb would click on when they were ready, SO TRUE! One day Kyan just "got it"!

Kyan was 3 and 1/2 by the time we were peeing and pooing on the potty! #2 took way longer and he used to hide when he had to do it. But, like I said, the light bulb went on and then we had our potty trained boy!

Those pictures are hilarious of Blaine with the pink boots!

I know boys and girls are different, but it seems like they'll do it when they decide they want to. Him and his love of shoes...so funny!

Hi Courtney~ its Linda Bennett the blogstalker! You've probably already got him pottytrained by the time I saw this post. But my favorite trick with boys was to put cheerios in the toilet and let them aim.
I love your blog. Your kids are adorable and growing up so fast!

Hey Courtney, The one thing that really worked with all of my kids was reinforcing the "big boy" or "big girl" idea. They always want to do something like mom or dad. It is the copy cat thing. Tell him what a big boy he is being. Like daddy. Something like that. Worked wonders with mine.
